Who I am
I’m John, a systems administrator at a Florida county Supervisor of Elections office. I’ve worked in elections for 21 years. I’m not a developer. I use Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and Codex every day, the same way you’d use any other office tool: carefully, with public information, and with a person checking the results.
Why this site exists
Most Florida election offices are behind on AI, and it’s not because people aren’t smart or curious. It’s fear, mostly the fear that “using AI” means handing over election data. It doesn’t have to. Most of our daily work involves public information: statutes, handbooks, notices, press releases, and published statistics. That’s where AI can save real hours, safely.
This site shares what I’ve learned so an office of three people can get the same benefit as an office of three hundred.
What this site is not
- Not official. It isn’t produced or endorsed by any Supervisor of Elections office, the Florida Department of State, the Florida Supervisors of Elections association, or any AI company.
- Not legal advice. Public records exemptions and policy questions belong with your office’s attorney.
- Not a sales pitch. No vendor pays for anything here. When I recommend a product, it’s because I use it, and I say what it costs and what can go wrong.
How the content is checked
- Every Florida law reference links to the official statutes (Online Sunshine) or the Florida Administrative Code.
- Every page about tools, prices, or vendor policies shows the date it was last checked against the vendor’s own site. See What’s New for changes.
- Examples use public data only, with obviously fake names wherever a person would appear.
- I used AI to help build this site, and I read every page before it goes up. That’s the same rule the site teaches.
